Braces

Braces gradually shift your teeth into their desired positions over time using a combination of brackets, bands and wires. There are different types of braces depending on your needs, including traditional metal braces and clear ceramic braces.

Metal braces

These are made of high quality stainless steel and we feel that they are most effective devices for straightening teeth, especially in cases where there may be severe misalignment. We prefer traditional metal braces for adults in most cases as they are very durable, highly used and fit in the budget of most parents or adults with braces.

Step 1. Consultation and examination

During your first visit we click some photo of your face and teeth for diagnosis and treatment planning, we also advice x-ray to rule out any impacted tooth and cephelometric tracing.

Step 2. Fitting of dental braces

Light cure composite is used to fix bracket on teeth, at exact position.  The complete placement process typically takes less than 30 minutes.

Step 3. Adjustment of dental braces

During these appointment The elastic ties that hold the braces in place and arch wires are removed, and new ties and wires are placed. Most patients will feel some tightness or soreness in their mouth shortly after each appointment, which typically presents four to six hours after the appointment and may last for several days. This occurs due to the change in position of the teeth as they react to the pressure created by the dental wire on the braces.

Simple analgesic medications such as paracetamol or ibuprofen may be beneficial for pain relief, this is particularly true as eating can be painful during this time. There should be a period of at least three weeks between each adjustment appointment to allow time for the teeth to move.

Step 4. Removal of dental braces

when the teeth have been repositioned as desired, it is time to remove the braces. This process is relatively simple and not painful. Many patients notice some inflammation of the gums following the remove dental braces. We at Magadh Oro Dental advice to get oral prophylaxis done after braces removal.

Step 5. Placement of retainers on teeth

retainers helps to retain the tooth at new position and improve the retention of the tooth. Dr. Abhishek Kumar preffer Fixed retainer from canine to canine rather then removable retainers, because bearing of removable retainers depends on patient desire.

Self legating braces are less noticeable than metal braces. Compared to traditional braces, self-legating braces require 40 % less orthodontic appointments.

Dental braces extraction & without extraction

If space is present in between your teeth we utilize this space to retract your forward placed teeth, If spcae is not there we can create space by Interproximal reduction if we need up to 3 mm space, if more space is required we can be do extraction of the Premolars, either 1st or 2nd premolar based on the amount of space required which is determined after photographic, model and face analysis.

Ceramic braces are similar to traditional metal braces, but they are made out of transparent ceramic material that will blend in with your teeth. Sometimes tooth-colored wires are even used to make them even less noticeable. These braces are less visible than metal braces and are a great choice for an adult that needs orthodontic treatment.

Age limit for dental braces

There is no age limit for getting dental braces. Only criteria to get braces is healthy bone and gums. If your gums are not healthy at age of 15 then you should not get braces and if your gums are healthy at age 60 then braces will improve your smile. Sometimes in teenage, we may advise you to wait for braces till all of your premolars come out.

Professional Aligners® / Clear aligners

Clear orthodontic aligners are a popular alternative to braces. Well-known brands include Invisalign®, ClearCorrect® and We have our own brand Professional Aligners®. Rather than using brackets and wires to straighten your teeth, these systems use a series of custom-made, clear aligner trays, mouth guard-like aligners can be removed and are replaced every two weeks. This type of orthodontic tool can be used instead of lingual braces or traditional braces. Professional Aligners are custom made just for your mouth, and you will remove them to clean them or when you eat.

You wear each set of trays for one to two weeks before switching them out for the next set in the series. Over time, the clear aligners shift your teeth into their proper positions. (3) Retainers

If you wear braces or clear aligners, you’ll need a retainer once your orthodontic treatment ends. A retainer is a custom oral appliance that keeps your teeth from drifting out of their proper positions. Your orthodontist can tell you how often you’ll need to wear your retainer to maintain the results of treatment.
