Four treatment options available for rehabilitation of the completely edentulous patients.
(1) Conventional complete denture
A conventional denture is made after all teeth have been extracted and the tissues (gums) have healed. An immediate denture is fabricated and inserted immediately after the teeth are extracted and the tissues are allowed to heal under the denture.
Indications for Complete Dentures
Complete dentures are full-coverage oral prosthetic devices that replace a complete arch of missing teeth. The following are indications for this type of dental prosthesis:
A full arch of missing teeth
Dental implants that have been deemed inappropriate by patient and/or doctor because of financial constraints, a medically compromised status that contraindicates surgery, or inevitable damage to vital structures such as maxillary sinuses, nerves, and vessels
Intraoral cancer that has caused a loss of gross intraoral tissue, resulting in an edentulous dental arch; the complete denture prosthesis would then not only replace teeth but also fill in the portion of missing tissue (eg, nasopharynx, hard palate)
(2) Overdenture
An overdenture is a removable dental prosthesis that rests on and covers one or more natural teeth, their roots, or dental implants. They are also known as snap-on dentures, overlay dentures, overlay prostheses, and superimposed prostheses.

(3) Implant supported overdenture
Edentulous patients often experience problems with their mandibular complete dentures. Patients with the resorbed mandibular ridge often complain of lack of stability and retention of the mandibular denture, together with a decreased chewing ability. Insertion of implants creates more favorable environment for the restoration in such patients. Implant-supported prostheses options for an edentulous arch include implant-supported fixed prosthesis and implant-supported removable prosthesis. While implant-supported fixed prosthesis offers many advantages like being esthetically pleasing and feels being actually like natural dentition, they are very expensive and not indicated in many conditions. Implant supported removable prosthesis offers certain advantages over implant-supported fixed restoration. Many patients are satisfied with a stable implant-supported overdenture
that requires limited clinical time and financial expense.
(4) full-arch fixed implant-supported prostheses.

full arch reconstruction of edentulous ridges requires five to 10 dental implants; however, some patients demanding fixed implant-supported prostheses are not able to medically or economically afford complex bone grafts and/or a greater number of implants. These situations could pivot the treatment plan toward the All-on-4 protocol. Nevertheless, due to less implant support in this treatment option, mechanical and biological complications might arise. This article describes the treatment of a fully edentulous patient with two types of fixed implant-supported prostheses on four dental implants along with the following complications.
